The days are getting shorter, and as the darkness settles in, it’s important to take time to decide a few strategies to help your mental health. This year it’s felt like the dark and gloomy weather has come in faster than ever and I’ve found myself unprepared for the dive my mental health has taken.
With the help of my depression and anxiety support group and my community of friends on Instagram, I’ve come up with a list of things we can all do to get through the changing seasons.
- Start a new craft or activity for or even having specific activities saved for different seasons – for me, I’m trying cross stitch!
- Moving our bodies
- Get outside for a walk and fresh air
- Taking a few breaths outside when you wake up
- Using a SAD lamp
- Cuddle with your pets
- Stay on top of your vitamins like vitamin D
- Making your space cozy (okay, this one was super popular! Lets break down what people shared they do – Tea, blankets, candles, books, music -soft jazz or lofi anyone?!
Are you going to try adding any of these things into your day?!
I would love to hear what you try 🧡
